Using IBM SPSS Modeler with a
Repository
About the IBM
SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository
IBM® SPSS® Modeler can be used in conjunction with an IBM SPSS Collaboration and
Deployment Services repository, enabling you to manage the life cycle of data mining models
and rel ated predictive objects, and enabling these objects to be used by enterprise applications,
tools, and solutions. SPSS Modeler objects that can be share d in this way include streams, nodes,
stream outputs, scenario s, projects, and models. Objects are stored in the central repository,
from where they can be shared with other applications and tracked using extended versioni ng,
metadat a, and search ca pabilities.
Note: A separate license is require d to access an IBM® SPSS®
Collabor ation and Deployment Services repository. For more information, see
http://www.ibm.com/software/analytics/spss/products/deployment/cds/
Before you
can use SPSS Modeler with the repository, you need to install an adapte r at the
repository host. Without this adapter, you may s ee the foll owing messag e when attempting to
access repository objects from certain SPSS Modeler nodes or models:
The repository may need updating to support new node, model and output types.
For instr uctions on installi ng the adapter, see the SPSS Modeler Deployment Installation guide,
availabl e on the SPSS Modeler Deployment DVD. Details of how to access SPSS Modeler
reposito
ry objects from IBM® SPSS® Collaboration and Deployment Services Deployment
Manager are given in the SPSS Modeler Deployment Guide.
The following sections provide info r mation on accessing the rep ository from within SPSS
Modeler.
